The Country
Knolls Pool
The Country Knolls pool is
located in the center of the community, on Burning Bush Boulevard. The swimming
complex consists of a large 150 foot main pool, a diving well with three diving
boards (1 meter, 3 meters and 10 meters), and a separate children’s wading pool.
The facility is open seven days per week from Memorial Day weekend through Labor
Day, noon until around 8:30 P.M. For six weeks in the summer, swimming lessons
are given by the Town of Clifton Park from 9:30 A.M until noon.
Admission to the pool is based
upon a seasonal membership only. Family memberships cost $250, couple (or any
two family members) $185, and single memberships are $115.
The Country Knolls pool has
played host to thousands of families over the years, and is immensely popular as
a recreational, athletic and social center for adults and children throughout
the summer. Newcomers to the area will find it an excellent place to meet new
acquaintances. Longtime residents enjoy meeting friends and neighbors in a
relaxed setting which offers a refreshing alternative to summer’s heat.
The pool is owned and operated
by the local community though the Longkill Park District. The Pool Administrator
for the Park District is Glenn Valle.

The
Parks of Country Knolls
Country Knolls is home to many
park and open space areas. The largest developed park is the Martin Jewitt Park
on Longkill Road. The park has three ball fields, three tennis courts, a
basketball court and a children’s playground, with a large amount of playground
equipment. Adjacent to the park are town-owned soccer fields.
Next to the pool complex is
Burning Bush Park, which consists of playground equipment, bocce and
shuffleboard courts, a volleyball court, and a large open recreation field.
Throughout Country Knolls are
large "forever wild" parcels of woodland, complete with hiking trails, streams,
and ponds. The largest is a beautiful parcel located off Shadow Wood Way. This
81 acre parcel includes the reservoir formerly used by the Village of Round Lake
for many years, but is now owned by the Town of Clifton Park for passive
recreation.
Most of the parkland is owned
and maintained by the Longkill Park District. The current Park District
Chairperson is Country Knolls resident William Mackesey. |
